While the game's source code will be released, Parnell warns it’s far from a working game. "But releasing it is the least I can do. I don't imagine it will be of any use to anyone, other than as a monument to a failed dream."

Releasing the source code is what separates the charlatans and scam artists from the merely unsuccessful.

To be pedantic, the Broadcom NIC and optional SAS controller need their own blob firmware, but with the IOMMU there really isn't a risk, since you should be encrypting your network traffic and disk storage anyway.

Besides, someone's already working on reverse engineering the NIC firmware anyway.

Still, it's the closest thing to owner-controlled hardware you can get.

If you want to talk about Google on Reddit with people who understand, I would recommend /r/privacy. Most other people probably just don't care.

Majority ownership for Path of Exile and League of Legends only.

40% ownership of Epic Games

Plus a bunch of mobile junk.

So, not especially a threat at the moment.
