Vindicated 'sexist' scientist banned from conference due to feminist threat submitted by FreeSpeachRocks to Worldnews

What's frustrating is that this is everything that's wrong with feminism. This is why people aren't taking it seriously, because some "feminists" aren't playing fair and take a small issue and blow it out of proportion. Come on, a few remarks don't warrant a threat to his safety. Here's what he actually said that pissed a few people off: 'It's strange that such a chauvinist monster like me has been asked to speak to women scientists. Let me tell you about my trouble with girls. Three things happen when they are in the lab: you fall in love with them, they fall in love with you, and when you criticise them they cry. Perhaps we should make separate labs for boys and girls? Now, seriously, I'm impressed by the economic development of Korea. And women scientists played, without doubt an important role in it. Science needs women, and you should do science, despite all the obstacles, and despite monsters like me.'

People who DON'T "live for the weekend"; how do you do it? What makes your regular days awesome? submitted by FreshieD to AskVoat

cajunsunrise 1 points 18 points (+19|-1) ago

Do stuff after work. It can be going drinking with your buddies, getting involved with a sport, finding a hobby that other people like doing on weeknights, taking classes that you're interested in. You're only at work for 1/3 of the day (assuming 40 hour work week), and you probably only need 8 hours of sleep. So use those extra 8 hours to the fullest.

New voaters should have a kid (baby goat) tag until they hit minimum CCP/SCP. submitted by Seemslegit to ideasforvoat

What sort of benefit do you think would be gained from this? I worry that new users/lurkers would be looked down upon for having a baby goat tag and their contributions and opinions would be less valued than people who do not have a baby goat tag. I see that doing one of two things: discouraging people from contributing and just becoming lurkers, and also make a small percentage of new users feel like they have to contribute meaningful information so they can get rid of the baby goat tag. I guess that sortof helps to self-moderate the quality of content, but it also makes it a less fun user experience for new users.

What's a social norm you would implement? submitted by HomelessJamesBond to AskVoat

It would be socially acceptable for a person not to talk a lot while hanging out with a group of people. Like, if you just want to listen to other people talk without contributing yourself, that would be okay. It would be viewed as thoughtful instead of weird, or "antisocial".
