The owner of imgur did an ama and mentioned how popular slimgur was getting. Later that day, somebody uploaded child porn to slimgur and it was taken offline. reddit & imgur users still believe that if you don't agree with them, you have to be destroyed.

I don't think it was so smart. It makes him look ineffective and pedestrian, as if he is a victim of circumstance rather than a framer of it. I don't think America is going to support a candidate who ducks off stage whenever problems erupt.

You're absolutely right that other speakers wouldn't have allowed them near the stage, but you can't un-ring that bell, either. Once they're there, running away is a terrible option, and an even worse optic.

Raising the gasoline tax sounds like a terrible idea. How are local governments supposed to pay for the increased fuel costs for police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, city buses, and government work vehicles? They're going to have raise other taxes on federal, state, county, and city levels in order to pay for that increased cost of gas. They won't have any choice but to raise taxes to pay the difference. The money has to come from somewhere.

Raising the gasoline tax is like raising 5 taxes at once, because all levels of government will also have to pay that tax, and that money has to be generated from taxpayers. Not to mention that a gas tax hits everyone with a car, including people under the poverty line. And all this, to cover highway repairs?

And what is the point of a fundraising tax that requires yet other taxes to pay for it? If we must raise a tax, let it just be one tax that covers the cost in question, and that doesn't require subsequent taxes to pay for the "fundraising" one.
