Crowd cheers as Birmingham police officer is brutally beaten submitted by BoiseNTheHood to news

api 3 points 44 points (+47|-3) ago

So this is probably going to sound incoherent, but:

You know, even though police brutality is a horrible thing that goes on, there's still not much justification for doing it back to them. Yes, people shouldn't be beaten/murdered/etc., but we won't get anywhere if it's just done like this.

EDIT: As @NeedleInAHaystack put it,

doing unjust things to people who do unjust things doesn't bring about justice.

Woman sentenced to 48 weekends in jail for raping a 15 year old male submitted by Rommel79 to news

api 4 points 27 points (+31|-4) ago

That sentence is just some bullshit. How the hell is that an adequate punishment for raping someone!?

[SocJus/Censorship] Stack Exchange writes blog post how they are a good place for women to work. SJW mod locks and deletes comments after facing criticism. submitted by QuantumWannabe to KotakuInAction

The whole idea of "We must have more diversity!" is just stupid. Why should companies hire $oppressed_minority_of_the_week instead of hiring the person who's best for the job? Companies exist to earn money, for the shareholders or otherwise. Not for pushing diversity agendas.

Get root on an OS X 10.10 Mac: The exploit is so trivial it fits in a tweet submitted by monkeypuzzle to news

api 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

If by "linux" you mean "UNIX," then yes. OS X isn't a Linux derivative; it's more of a FreeBSD/NeXTSTEP/etc. derivative, with a lot of custom stuff tacked on.

Scientists have finally discovered massless particles, and they could revolutionise electronics. submitted by Kimmybjonsson to science

api 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Science time!

From reading the Wiki article, it looks like a fermion is just any particle that fits the Pauli exclusion principle (which basically seems to be that no two identical fermions can have the same quantum state. Read: Magick). Fermions as a category include all forms of quarks and leptons. The category also includes anything made from an odd number of "base" fermion particles, so particles like baryons (made of three quarks), certain atoms, and so on are also included. This means that a fermion could be an electron (because electrons are leptons), but it could also be a proton, because a proton is made out of <smaller particles that Wiki doesn't list and I'm too tired to look up>.

Does that help?
