The Oppressed Rulers of the Games Industry submitted by derram to gaming

It's nice to see someone actually speaking up about this. The fact that this has to be submitted anonymously illustrates the reality of the situation perfectly. Nothing in that post was offensive or directly inflammatory, but I'm positive that the writer would've been called all sorts of nasty things, and basically lynched.

When this obsession with sex/gender representation dies down, I hope the metaphorical pendulum does not swing too far in the opposite direction.

What, if anything, is too serious to joke about? submitted by BRITTEACH to AskVoat

To add to this, laughter "softens the blow" so to speak. People are more likely to pay attention to the message if it is not blasted in their face or seen as a direct attack on what they believe.

I think that's why political cartoons have been around for so long: they present serious topics in an exaggerated fashion with a bit of humor and are very effective at getting their points across. It's even reflected in the style that political cartoons take. The figures and facial features are very exaggerated to match the absurdity that the cartoon is trying to convey. They are so effective that I'll even chuckle a bit at cartoons that I don't agree with.

There is not a single topic on this earth that should be off-limits for comedy.

Dogmeat cannot die in Fallout 4 submitted by InHarmsWay to gaming

I'm not sure how to feel about this. On one had, Dogmeat died all the time on Fallout 3. On the other, this just confirms the return of unkillable NPC's, and perhaps a companion you are forced to have. I was really hoping FO4 would be more similar to New Vegas where literally everyone could be killed, and, if you played in hardcore companions could be killed as well.

When it comes down to it I think Fallout 4 is going to have a much more forced narrative than New Vegas. We are probably going to be told who are the "Good Guys" and the "Bad Guys", regardless of who the player actually wants to side with. We are also probably going to have to have the dog as a companion regardless of if we want to or not. In my opinion this creates a more coherent and stronger story, but, I prefer to make my own choices and see how the world changes because of them.

If I'm not making myself clear, there is a YouTuber known as Many a True Nerd who did a "kill everything run" of Fallout 3. He literally murdered everyone who could be killed in the Brotherhood of Steel, and they still worked with him because the plot required it.

Not that I think this will ruin Fallout 4 or anything, I just really prefer the New Vegas style.

I remember my cousins got an N64 that they brought on the family trip to Disney World. I think I might have had more fun playing Yoshi's Story and Mario Kart 64 in the hotel room than at the theme park.

Bethesda E3 Showcase is live! submitted by Magnar to gaming

Doom is generic, it just did it first.

The game looks fun, but I was hoping it would play a little faster. I'm also a little worried that the single player will just be waves and waves of respawning enemies in an arena. Half of the fun of Doom is figuring out how to approach a room, choosing which enemies to engage, which to run from, and even see if you can get them to fight each other.

I was also disappointed that the music seemed to be generic electronic dub-step with some guitar rather than straight metal.

All in all, it looks pretty good. I'll buy it.

I'll have to take a look at the footage when it is on YouTube later. I thought there was a significant number of enemies in Hell, but it was honestly a bit hard to follow live. I will be severely disappointed if there are only a few enemies engaging you at once.
