This is a bigger problem than most realize, I think. The "War on Terror" sounds like an after-school campaign, not an actual war. If you asked most people today if we're at war or not, most would probably cock their heads and say, "What? Of course we're not at war. Who would we be at war with?"

It is 100% dependent on what you are trying to make. Java is fine for many things. C is fine for many things. C++ as well. You don't have to pick just one language to use for everything.

Not as much as you think. Player tendencies cause natural "clumpings" of players near items of interest. Elite: Dangerous has a literal 1:1 mapping of our entire galaxy, and you run into other players all the time.

This article is pretty bad. It contains nearly zero substance. Half of it is a tangent about some totally unrelated family. It ends with this zinger:

I just watched a two minute video and then read a bunch of text about some kind of abstract system for multiple games to influence one another. I saw maybe 10-20 seconds total of what I assume was gameplay, but I can't really be sure. There's some walking around on a cube happening I guess? I...
