I used one once when I broke a leg. I think I've only seen one other person ever use one because of something like that.

Bitcoin doesn't waste electricity, it's used for security submitted by Fred-Stiller-OnAWire to bitcoin

Nothing-at-stake isn't really a problem. Nothing at stake is a voting system where you can vote for all candidates.

The candidate with the most votes still wins (under most PoS rules), it's just a different way to vote.

The consensus rules are what truly dictates, and more importantly what should dictate, what chain is in use.

Authority should come from the chain with "the most power", the the chain that is "the most correct".

My LG Nexus 4 just died one day, for no reason.

I'm not going to be buying anything LG phone related any time soon.

I don't find this a convincing argument.
Any fiat producing, espionage committing nation state would have no problem gaining over 50% of hashing power, and at that point they can roll back the clock of the bitcoin blockchain.

It's a real issue. Just because it requires a lot of resources doesn't mean that a nation state would have issues accomplishing their goal.

PoS can also be secure without any electrical/computational overhead, and is not really subject to this kind of economic weakness.
