We require a photo ID to drink, start a business, fish, get on a an airplane, why is requiring one to vote such a bad thing? submitted by DrBerry to politics

Wolfeh2015 16 points 65 points (+81|-16) ago

There's a huge difference between not going to the gun range because you can't afford a license, and not being able to vote because you can't afford a license.

Comparing needing a photo ID for a recreational activity vs the founding principal of our nation is a bit incredulous.

Mozilla changes content encoding type "bro" to "br" due to gender issues submitted by turtlelover05 to technology

Wolfeh2015 0 points 36 points (+36|-0) ago

Yeah, it's not like Br is already used as an abbreviation for Brazilian, nor is it used as a tag for a linebreak in HTML. I'm sure no confusion or issues could arise from this at all. /s

Non-whites commit 92 percent of all violent crime in New York City, and are responsible for 98 percent of all shootings submitted by pandabill to news

Wolfeh2015 17 points -13 points (+4|-17) ago

Oversimplifying an incredibly complicated issue.

People get put in certain situations that create an environment where crime rampant, and then blamed for being apart of said rampant crimes.

Unless you truly believe the narrative that 77.7% of the population (white) are responsible for less than 8% of violent crime, simply because they have less melatonin in their skin.

*Footnote: I have corrected 80% to 77.7% because I have received complaints. A difference of 3.3% however is not pertinent to my argument.

Gender is a Social Construct OR... submitted by BrownMoses to tumblrinaction

People might mistake babies being born with gender identities, simply because it's so ingrained in our society that "this is how a boy acts, and this is how a girl acts", we don't even recognize that we're teaching it over time.

Edit:

Not sure what is getting everyone so upset about this, I thought it was pretty straight forward.

"Gender" is literally the term to describe a general set of behaviors we assign to the default position of being male or female.

It's something that society decided. We usually call people who go against the gender normal, things like "tomboy" -- I'm excluding sexuality from the discussion as it's also mutually exclusive from gender.

You're born with a sex, you grow into a gender. There is no "wrong" gender.

I don't understand your point. Everyone is wired differently, what does that have to do with anything?
