Because felony convictions would end in deportations. A couple years ago there was a "dreamer" who killed two little girls in a hit and run, and she only got probation and community service and had her deportation proceedings cancelled. Apparently, sex offenders are a group of criminals that even judges in Oregon have difficulty in giving a pass.

"'I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand, I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught and I fell backwards."
How much bullshit can she pack into one sentence? Let me count the ways.
I'd wager she hasn't attempted a brisk walking pace in decades much less any semblance of running.
If you're holding a cup coffee you walk smoothly and carefully, especially while going down stairs.
If you are going down stairs with coffee in hand, you're watching the cup so it doesn't slosh too much. You aren't talking over your shoulder.
If your heel catches going down stairs you fall forward. If your heel slips off the edge of the step you fall backwards.
If you fall backwards, exactly how the fuck do you break a toe?

"Overall, 54 percent supported federal funding of Planned Parenthood, and 26 percent opposed it."
"The poll shows the more the American people learn about Planned Parenthood's barbaric late-term abortion body parts business, the less they want to subsidize it with their taxpayer dollars,"
"After the videos were described to poll respondents, 39 percent said Planned Parenthood should not receive government funding and 34 percent said federal dollars should continue."
The support for continued federal funding for Planned Parenthood is the result of mainstream media burying the video scandal. Most Americans oppose federal funding for Planned Parenthood after learning about the videos.
(Edit - Didn't realize I screwed up the link in the original post. I hope this was the reason for the downvoats.)

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you posted on FPH because the situation doesn't square with your politics. Southern = Fat = Stupid right? And that kind of thinking pretty much is textbook thinking for a northern lib. I'd wager this kind of shit happens more often in northern leftist strongholds, regardless of the weight of committee members.
With that said, your relatives need to GTFO while the gettin' is good. The proverbial camel's nose is under the tent. It is only a matter of time until they are living in an undesirable neighborhood. Once mutil-family units, section 8, halfway houses, etc hit the neighborhood and school district, it's over. They can stick around and hope things will stay the same or as good, but that never happens. Your relative's town had a chance to stop this, but that time passed when they failed at the ballot box by electing those who would sit/seat the committee who made this decision.
There is problem with section 8, apartments, multi-family, and assorted government dwellings. It is that no matter how nice they originally are and how great the original occupants appear, it all goes to shit over time. If you don't own the home you don't maintain it. If you don't maintain it, it gets worse with age. As time passes the occupants match the dwelling, until what is left is a shit property with shit tenants. If your relatives already have kids in school their children might make it out of there unscathed. Those looking to start a family or retire there will be f'd.
