Pushing higher minimum wages ... should there be a maximum wage as well? submitted by NewYorkMos to news

Capping the maximum wage would be a great idea if you want to see your best talent work for foreign corporations.

PANICKED: CNN Hypes Heavily Skewed Poll Saying Democrats Will Crush In 2018 submitted by Joker68 to politics

I seem to remember that people thought that Hillary was going to win the last election. All we have to do is convince the voters that the Dems already have it wrapped up so there in no need to vote!

SERIOUS: Where is the money here? Somewhere there are investors that have funded this film, why did they think this was a good idea? Are there any "Hollywood Accounting" tricks that make them want a Box Office Flop. Who is paying for this, who is profiting?

Anybody here ever had a small business that failed? What happened? submitted by Lilgreen13 to AskVoat

I wrote software (eBooks, Children's games, Screen Savers etc.) that was sold inexpensively in specialty stores all over the USA. I had some good years and had some bad years. The final straw was the recession of 2008/2009 sales slowed considerably and by Dec of 2009 sales just stopped. I had never experienced this in the life of the business - particularly at the holiday season. Later when I was calling to collect some money owed to me I talked to one owner that had been in business for over 40 years now she couldn't even pay her heating bills. (I never got paid either but I didn't press the issue.) Literally hundreds of this type of store closed down for good. These stores were generally Mom & Pop operations and Wal-mart and the general economy had taken their toll.

I since operated another type of business that lasted about five years. I knew the demand for that item would not last forever but I had to do something. Now I have reorganized and have set up with different products that are in demand for most of the year (sadly not July / August) and I am working on a line of useful products I make myself. Things are looking up - Failure is not Final.

What's the best TV show you ever watched that had the WORST ending? submitted by Angry_fapkin to AskVoat

My Name is Earl - Last season hit by writers strike and unceremoniously dropped by the network. They were expecting another season so it ended with a cliffhanger. Great show.

I had a relative on the Mayflower but he ended up being hung in a murder trial later... (True Story).

Mars would be BORING. I get board on a 4 hour cruise ship to the Bahamas because once you have eaten lunch (which is very good) and seen the show you are still stuck with hours with nothing to do. You can only walk around the decks so many times.

I can kick back and enjoy life here on Mars you would end up working all day everyday. And what if that person you had an eye on decided they like someone else?
