At least that's the plan, they might get a visit from the government and suddenly the blueprints are gone and they get a gag order forbidding any more discussion on the matter.

Why won't they will get the ProxyHam treatment?

What the big tragedy is, to me, is the voluntary loss of potential genius and brainpower that is being voluntarily wasted and thrown away. The female population outnumbers the male population. I would not call it braindrain as it seems brainwaste is the more accurate description of what is being done.

Gone are the early days of rare and overly arcane expertise and knowledge in almost every area of computer technology and technical advancement. In the apparent "Old School", computer and network technology was a purely male-dominated culture. The company's Technical Alpha Male is a relic that could afford unpleasant and implicitly superior behavior because the options were limited, a knowledgeable replacement was nearly impossible to find.

I think the behavior still being practiced hurts the Linux Community overall and changing it would only encourage that the best talent and ability, no matter the gender, would be willing to join and contribute to the continuing success of Linux and The Internet. The 2 most important technical accomplishments of this 21st century.

Imagine if the brain trust of Linux and The FOSS movement could double with a minimal effort of just being decent to one another for a mere 1 or 2 years. Setting the table for talent joining the efforts going forward.

I think the behavior is rooted in ego and selfishness.
