Voat is going to grow exponentially in my opinion. (Hence doing the AMA here) Reddit is facing a consistent 'lowest common denominator problem' where content on the front page tailors to the general public and becomes less and less interesting. If 10 things are posted and each is extremely important to a subculture, the photo of the cat hits #1 because everyone agrees cats are funny. Unfortunately the article about corporate malfeasance is only interesting to half the voting body so it doesnt make it far.

But in any situation banning any type of discussion is dangerous. Eventually everyone gets offended by everything and we stop having real discussions.

News today is "churnalism" and it scares me. Putting your own spin on news is cool sometimes but I always try to dig a bit more into the stories people are talking about. There was a story a few years ago about an apple patent disabling cameras, I read the patent and it actually disabled anything on the phone. Not only is some journalism outright wrong, but even when the stories are researched they missed something.

I also wanted to say that The coverage of Voat and Reddit has been mostly deplorable. How can you just call everyone trolls simply because of disagreements? They need to focus on the issue and yes, you can mention there are some trolls, but most people are just people with their own opinions and ideas.

News is made for people who aren't a part of a community so they need to be informed, however its more profitable to say, lie about video games, than it is to tell the truth because the truth isn't as exciting.

I see a lot of journalists who cover news on the ground but the funny thing is its a small enough community to where many of us know each other. Whenever I go to a conflict I can expect to see a bunch of my friends.

Yea pretty much all the time ha. I was pinned down by live gunfire in Ferguson three or four times. In Venezuela I got accused of being a spy and had to flee the country. It comes with the territory!

Kickflips. Man I swear heelflips were just natural for me but kickflips took hours of practice all day for a couple weeks. Hardest trick I ever learned.

Alright, that was great. I assume lowest level talks implies that nothing they do could ever hope to accomplish something.
