I am disappointed that the likely scenario is for a Bush to be running against a Clinton to become the next president. Do you think Bernie Sanders has a chance in the primary? submitted by Folkwayz to AskVoat

You just love the copy/paste function don't you, lol. I've seen this exact wall of text popping up all over the place. Not saying it isn't a contribution to the conversation, but a few minutes of typing, or at least adding a thread specific intro, would be nice. Also, the "fell good" spelling error in the last paragraph is starting to hurt my brain. Please correct it before copy/pasting again.

Due to AskVoat being brigaded, the minimum amount of CCP required to downvote has temporarily been heightened to 500. submitted by Stoic to AskVoat

This is utterly ridiculous. You're upping the CCP requirement because people got 3-4 downvotes...? Really....? This sub is going to hell in a handbasket. The name of the site is Voat, not OnlyVoatUnderVeryStrictConditions. I've held out as long as I could. I stayed through the whole @she fiasco, and even accepted that she got the top mod spot. @PutItOut was right in giving her the sub because her request was within the guidelines, but this is just too much. If I wanted censorship, I'd have stayed at the other site. Unsubbed.

How Government-Funded Education Subsidies Create Demand for Useless Degrees and The Education Bubble submitted by brother_tempus to politics

TheManWhoLaughs 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

No, he was lucky enough to have drawn the attention of a wealthy citizen who acted as a benefactor. He also apprenticed under some of the great artists of his time. Ya know who generally does have a pile of loan debt which came with acquiring their skills....? The fantastic visual artists who make our movies and video games. Yesterdays Sistine Chapel is today's Avengers movie or photo-realistic game. The people designing the media which we all consume are the same people studying the arts. I agree though, that a $50,000 price tag is ridiculous. Furthering one's education should not be prohibitively expensive. This society will be much better off once ALL citizens have access to higher education. A college degree should be the standard here in the U.S., not something to aspire to. We shouldn't have to hope that our children are able to go to college, it should just be a given. If you want to solve problems, you need sharp minds.

Rand Paul: U.S. borrows $1 million a minute submitted by FreeSpeachRocks to politics

TheManWhoLaughs 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

Uhh... Yeah. Did you even bother to look at the way the math was broken down? Using the same calculation which gives us the 1 million a second stat, gives us the 2.6 million a second stat. Simple math is simple, especially when were talking about numbers which are of public record. Go back, read the article again (or perhaps for the first time) and then see if you still disagree.

Quote from the article: "Based on the same calculation we used earlier, the government borrowed more than $2.6 million a minute in 2009, at the height of the recession. That rate has slowed every year since."

Edit: added quote
