Why are many SF and Fantasy books now labeling with "Strong Female Protagonist"? submitted by S3nnex to AskVoat

TheLastLeviathan 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

You can notice the same trend in crime novels and to be honest, I don't like it. I am female and I couldn't care less about a protagonists gender, as long as they are well written and the story is good.

What infuriates me is the stereotype of the super though female FBI Agent/Officer/Whatever that is better than any of the stupid, ignorant men around her and can solve any case. The men are always poorly written and seem to have the IQ of a potato and would be totally helpless without her. Of course she is also physically stronger than any of them and is the best in her field, because a female character apparently has to be the best in everything to be worthy of the protagonists role.

I would expect something like this in a shitty fanfiction, but I have seen more and more actual books by published authors spewing this crap. I think this is insulting to all genders.

What is the most outrageous conspiracy theory you've ever heard? submitted by AlmightySonOfBob to AskVoat

I always find it weird that those people really believe that the Government would invest hundreds of years of time, resources and money to set up a lie like this. Why would they hide something like this, where the gain for them seems to be nothing but false information?

Welcome! What's your current fave makeup item? submitted by sugarbees to makeupaddiction

For a while now, it has been the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in the colour Permanent Khaki. It looks like someone tried to put my eyecolour in a little pot and I love just doing some neutral shadows on the upper lid with a bit of black gel liner and dust it along my lower lashline, it looks really cool with my eyecolour.

Women of AskWomen, do you store things in your bra, and if so, what? submitted by some_weirdo to askwomen

I never really got the appeal of that, but then again, I also don't have huge boobs, so anything bigger than some money (which I find gross to stuff into my boobs) will look really obvious and weird.

Have women made the move to Voat? submitted by nebraska to AskVoat

I am a woman and I'm here, hope that helps a little =)

Something I have to say is, I just ckecked AskWomen on reddit to see what they say about voat and lots of people there seem to think that it's full of bigots and racists and stuff, because they beleive that all the people that are here are the ones that migrated from fatpeoplehate. It's sad, really, because so far I love voat much better.
