The more I see how the public has been swayed in my time, the less I trust the "history" I was taught as a kid.
Especially seeing stuff like this, although it certainly needs more research to be conclusive.

There's actually a lot of truth to this. Under certain conditions, lowering your caloric intake can cause your weight-set point to go higher. Basically, your metabolism drops and your maintaining calories may go from 2,000 to 1,200. You can keep losing weight if you keep eating less and less, but at that point it is not healthy.
For me personally, I've been the thinnest while eating the most (and having less stress).
