It's just so weird, the comments.... submitted by nutbastard to funny

It is weird but I like the system that Voat has implemented. It forces you to become part of the community before you can influence it, as opposed to any person just creating an account and going on vote brigades without every adding any content.

True. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out as the community grows larger. I hope that it fosters a greater sense of community and more discussion.

I think a flair system is a great idea. It would definitely help categorize posts and allow visiters/subscribers to /v/music decide which posts they want to dive into.

How do you purchase music (assuming you dont steal it) and aprx. how old are you. submitted by levitch to LetsTalkMusic

I subscribe to Google Music and get most of my music from there. For bands/artists that I really like and whose music I actually want to own, I tend to buy directly from their website or from them at a show if possible.

Edit: I'm 22.

Clicking links should open in a new tab submitted by Mr-Snrub to ideasforvoat

It's not browser dependent, so you can definitely do it in Chrome. At the upper-right-hand corner of the Voat page (any page) you should see your username, submission contribution point, comment contribution points, etc. Click the gear icon to open your user preferences. There is a check box to "open links in a new tab." This only works for external links though, not discussion posts ("self posts" if you're from reddit).

Also, in Chrome, you can always ctrl + click to open any link in a new tab, or click with your mouse wheel (if using an actual mouse, not a touchpad) for the same effect.
