System OEMs are the ones going to pay for the OS. It'd be fun to see a graph, of how many retail copies of windows were bought, vs how many OEM pc's were sold with the OS.

I think microsoft is doing this in an attempt to get everyone on a legitimate version of windows, where they can harvest data. Question being how much, and which kind. I don't really oppose that. It's not a small fact the a lot of stuff we use for free these days, are information funded. Personalized ads etc.

I'm hopeful that microsoft won't fuck this up, by being too greedy with what they harvest, and too negligent with how they store it / who they sell it to, but lets see what happens.

I believe there's a couple of reasons that they decided to skip windows 9

  1. Windows 10 is going to be the final version IIRC, and will just keep receiving incremental updates/upgrades, and personally I'd like my last version number, to be a nice round number, like W10
  2. There could supposedly be compatibility issues with older software, written, as is most software, by programmers taking shortcuts, checking if the version number started with 9, instead of checking for both windows 95, and windows 98.

People who aren't too active with the community, doesn't understand (and in my opinion with good reason) what is actually meant with the use of Master Race. What is meant, is that the PC is a superior platform, compared to consoles, viewed objectively. No PC required.

It is however, for anyone outside the subreddit, mostly viewed as a claim of users of PCs to be the Master Race, and a sense of elitism, and distaste towards those who use the term. Not to mention the negative connotations with the holocaust and such.

I had a lot longer reply in my head, but now I feel like I've forgotten most :/ I need coffee.

Assuming that everything necessary is on GitHub you could fork it, add badges and submit a pull request :)
