Rank: Purple Belt

I've been training for about 8 years now. Changed organizations twice which has led to an extended belting time for me but whatever.

I first started training to spend more time with my oldest brother and then when he moved away I stuck with it.

My favorite submission is switching back and forth between a triangle choke and a platform arm bar.

I'm now part of STARTBJJ which is Prof. Rafael Gordinho Lima's organization and I'm lucky enough to be one of his full time instructors here in Rhode Island.

Burn the ships.

One of my coaches said this to me during a training camp. He said that when Cortez invaded, he was hearing doubts from his men that they would be successful. So he set fire to all of their ships, eliminating their way home. This way the men had to push forward, had to be victorious. there was no other option.

So when you're facing a big challenge, eliminate plan B. Only give yourself the option of success.

(Sorry if this seems convoluted, as I read it back to myself I realize that he made it sound way more inspiring)

On top of this, a lot of people confuse hunger and thirst. Try having a glass of water and waiting a few minutes.

He's like this in person too. If you ever get a chance to attend one of his seminars don't miss it. I believe he's coming out with an online technique library as well

I would love to see the custom gi/rashie and spats he would wear.
