Voters don't pick nominee, we do: GOP official submitted by lissencarak to news

This is correct. Dems are the same way. It's not a public election, even though it "looks" like one, which is why each state and each party can have completely different arbitrary rulesets.

Party Primaries are a scam designed to subtly reinforce the idea that you can only select from an "approved" list of candidates, setup by the two parties in power to prevent anyone but their members from obtaining office.

It's a private organization electing it's "top" member. No different than if the local Moose Lodge was allowed to use the state voting systems to seek "public input" so that Moose Members could pick a chapter president.

This story is literally the defining, textbook example of the phrase. All we're missing is a wrongful death lawsuit and Al Sharpton

Louisiana Flood Victims Told They Must Have a Permit Before they Can Fix Their Homes submitted by fluxusp to news

Uh... yea? You can't just have some random dude roll into your destroyed house and re-wire all the electrical systems. Or run random gas lines. Or change the physical structure itself. Building standards are there for a reason, and the municipalities have waived all the normal fees associated with permits and inspections for the rebuilds.

if you want to build and live in whatever the hell you want, that's fine - I don't have a problem with you jeopardizing your own health and safety, but you should be held 100% liable for any and all issues that arise from your decision should you sell, rent or transfer the property. Also, if any city utility has issues with your slap-dash half-assed construction, they are 100% able to deny you service, including but not limited to emergency services, water, power, fire, etc.

downvoat brigades are out in force today, by looking at the comments.

Yea, this should not be a surprise to anyone. Every single one of them is a criminal from the moment they step foot on American soil illegally. This really only details those that have committed additional crimes.

NFL Player Suspended for Using Marijuana for Crohn's Disease submitted by lordunderthemountain to news

Sev_ 7 points -6 points (+1|-7) ago

I don't care what he does, but if he wants me to feel bad for his dumb ass when he knowingly violates his employers fucking policy by using an illegal drug (no, the state laws don't fucking count - states don't get to schedule drugs) and gets suspended, then he's out of luck. Hope you saved some of your signing bonus chucklehead!

Edit: Yessss. vent your illiterate or just plan ignorant frustrations on me, that'll totally change federal law and the NFL's drug usage policy :D

NFL Player Suspended for Using Marijuana for Crohn's Disease submitted by lordunderthemountain to news

Newsflash potheads - use of an illegal drug (federal drug status supersedes state drug classifications, sorry, that's a fact) is grounds for suspension or termination at any company that chooses to restrict or test for illegal drug use. "illegal drug user" isn't a protected class of person with regards to employment law. Suck it up and quit crying.

If the NFL (a private company) stipulates that illegal drug use is a suspendable offense, and you do it anyways, then you're a dumb-ass that deserves suspension. Apparently, this is the second time this idiot has done it too. Sounds like he needs fired.

EDIT: Downvoat all you want stoners. I'm 100% correct and you know it, hence the butthurt. Your personal views on MJ use are irrelevant to federal law, employer's drug policies, and the NFL's substance abuse guidelines.
