Knowledge is power. Anyone who bans statistics of any kind is horribly misguided at best and malicious at worst. But I can see why they might do that. The average person doesn't know how to interpret most data, and will probably just assume the data is an indication of inherent racial inferiority without looking at other factors that might explain it. That's what they're trying to cut down on, but they're doing it the wrong way.
