Vivaldi 1.0 - the new web browser for power users submitted by Fred-Stiller-OnAWire to technology

So I downloaded this and was reading the terms and then it hit me that the project is closed source. found a thread on their forum where some of their "platinum users" are defending the closed source idea very condescendingly:

"For people who find themselves unable to trust what proprietary software might be doing "behind their back" the solution is quite simple. Don't use it. Vivaldi will just have to survive without the one hundredth of one percent of potential users who simply must have any free software also be open source in order for them to be able to bring themselves to trust it."

Fine, I wont. Sorry, I wanted to.

What I think they don't understand is that things have changed post snowden leaks. Users know they are being spied on at every turn and they are actively seeking privacy, especially from heavy use software like the browser. Closed source browsers in particular scare the bejesus out of me because your business model MUST be to sell my data since you're not selling the software, but I cant confirm because I can't look at the source. Maybe I'm wrong but this is a big red flag to me.

This has been floating around since Jan. Looks like the news here is the FCC request to start testing, and the number changed from 700 to 4,000.

Should Added Sugar Be on the Nutrition Facts Labels? submitted by sunisa to science

I'd like to see glycemic index which is pretty similar. It tells you how much a food would impact your blood sugar. Fruits are high in sugar, but might not have a very high glycemic index becaue the fiber helps to slow the absorption of the fructose into the bloodstream. A fruit flavored ice cream on the otherhand would probably be off the charts. Also its an easy to understant 0-100 number whereas an amount value has to be considered along with servng size etc.

Not to sound unsupportive but, what is decentralized about this project?
