A little sad to me they took the game in this direction. I was a player mod back in the games heyday and the main concern at that time was with bots.

I guess now that I think about it they were showing signs of political correctness then. Though fuzzy I recall there was a lot of unhappy people at one point when they decided that pentagrams (in a dungeon with demons) were offensive and changed them all to some other texture.

I'm also a bit surprised that over a decade later that they're still around.

I remember some time after I left, hearing about a large amount of backlash from changes they seemly made out of the blue on how player killing worked.

For those unfamiliar a large portion of the virtual economy at least when I was there revolved around this. I think after a few years they reverted those changes, but I imagine this pushed out a lot of the original core players that were still around.

Feel free to ask questions if interested, I was also online and a player mod during the Falador Massacre of 06/06/2006.

That was something I noticed as well, the first idea in their though process rather than taking any kind of personal responsibility is to pull in government.

Will the cancer ever end... Have these people ever interacted with any government entity to experience their ideas at work?

Basically there was a glitch/bug that allowed some people to kill other players in areas of the game that they shouldn't have been able too.

A new skill was added not long before called construction where players could build their own house.

The first guy to reach the maximum skill level (99) held a party at his house and a lot of people showed up.

One of the furniture pieces available in the homes was some kind of dueling ring, players could fight in it and die, but respawn right outside again having lost nothing, just for good fun.

The bug I believe was due to people getting booted (due to the large volume) from his house while in a dueling match.

When this happened whatever flag in their profile was set saying it's ok to attack or kill anyone stayed on.

Of course for some of the affected players, rather than waiting it out, they decided it would be fun to start killing innocent players.

So they headed up north of the area where one entered the housing towards the city of Falador, killing players along the way.

As they made there way up, word started getting out to both the Jagex Mods and player Mods, I and several other player mods were on the scene by the time they had reached Falador, players were still getting killed.

For us player mods all we could really do amongst the chaos was tell people to put all there stuff in the bank so it would be safe if they were killed (logging off would work too unless they were being attacked).

Pretty quickly (he may already have been there by then) a Jagex mod showed up and banned the players on the spot, and ended the massacre.

It was considered one of the worst bugs to occur in the game.

I believe the worst bug before that had occured years before where a player had found some way to duplicate one of the games most valuable items.

I like how you go straight to personal insults when the numbers don't match your ideals.

Again the same source for 2016 list the yearly cost at 70,962.82 million which is roughly rounded 71 billion.

I'm doubting basic mathematics is fundamentally flawed, and I don't see why the government would benefit from over inflating these kind of numbers.

Congress Is About to Allow Oil Drilling in Alaska's Arctic Wildlife Refuge submitted by GorNos to news

Good, why not use easy oil, if anything the wildlife will probably appreciate any pipeline put in as they require steam to push the crude through and it will be nice and toasty nearby.

Gibs are so much of the federal budget that its going to be a hard battle to get rid of decades of unabated "welfare".

Without the gibs the Democrats (as well as some Republicans) are dead in the water with there so called "careers".

They will likely put up a fight like we have never seen if they perceive a threat to the gibs. Imagine Voter Id reactions x 1000.
