Home Depot and Lowe's have cancelled all lumber and sandbag shipments to NC. submitted by enormousatom to whatever

Alternately, they activated their "emergency supply chain", which may include not having the trucks stuck in the actual hurricane?

re: "...big box home improvement stores, like Lowe’s and Home Depot, which activated their emergency supply chain plans. Home Depot devoted a whole distribution center in Florida to hurricane relief supplies such as tools, generators, tarps, flashlights, batteries and chainsaws, to support more efficient distribution across the southeast. Lowe’s also had distribution centers in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina with extra supplies ready and waiting. This involved in some cases, diverting some inventory bound for other regions. The key was to get everything in place well before the arrival of the hurricane." from:

FYI almost certainly not a nuke... A 2.6 moment magnitude "earthquake" is only like 240 sticks of dynamite going off...

From the video it looks like it was burning before that big bang (explains why the cameraman was filming). Secondary explosion of an ammo dump by the looks of the munitions going off in the plume.

2.6 magnitude seismic event reported = ~500lbs -> ~2500lbs of TNT equivalent (depending on if 2.6 is in Richter or moment magnitude).

Tactical nukes are in the 1 to 100 kiloton range.

I need to poison the weeds in my sidewalk and driveway cracks. I don't want to poison the groundwater. Help! submitted by heygeorge to JustGrowIt

Use roundup, it doesn't affect groundwater. You can alternately use regular table salt and vinegar but you will kill ALL plants, not just the ones you target. Be careful of run off and make sure it doesn't get in the storm drains. re:

Note: Glyphosate is readily degraded by soil microbes to aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA, which like glyphosate strongly adsorbs to soil solids and is thus unlikely to leach to groundwater). Table salt and vinegar do not.

Thinking that spreading table salt and vinegar is any better than spreading Glyphosate is just silly though.
