Hike in minimum wage prompts more closings of San Francisco restaurants submitted by FreeSpeachRocks to news

The economic theory is that raised minimum wage increases spending of money, especially as more money in the hands of the poor or uneducated has a high velocity. The problem is in SF the real estate market is so hyper inflated by the large amount of money flowing into the city, the overhead of running a business is much larger than most cities.

So the poor who work in the service industry and run smaller business cannot afford to reside in the city because the rich are forcing them out. Eventually the lack of services and hyper inflated cost of living should decrease desirability and demand, which will bring the prices back down and allow smaller businesses and service workers to come back. Even now we are seeing the prices dropping this year.

There is medical studies that suggest circumcision has benefits while there is no such evidence for girls. That being said, I'm not sure it is worth it.
