Most scientists 'can't replicate studies by their peers' - BBC News submitted by Mixplate to science

NULL_state 0 points 42 points (+42|-0) ago

Most people don't seem to realize how large a problem this is. Sadly, the motives behind many studies and papers are to benefit a self interest and not advance the sciences. Many studies do withhold important information or keep many key facts obfuscated behind patented compounds, apparatus or methods. Anyone reading studies or papers should be able to replicate the results and if they can't then it's not real science. In order for science to work, other people have to be able to review, critique and test the claims made. We are sadly beyond the point in time where most studies and papers a) can't be reviews because of paywalls b) companies will sue you for trying to reproduce results c) results are trash because of bad science (skewing numbers to favor a desired result). If anything, papers should be freely available (especially if public funds were used) and in order to be remotely credible, the claims must be testable by someone reading the paper, given they have the skills / background to do so.

Zombie like deserpation of Hillary Clinton: "Why aren't I 50 points ahead of Trump?" submitted by GizaDog to news

I feel the same way about this video. She is way behind the times, since unions don't solve any problems this day in age. Originally, they were needed to protect workers rights and working conditions, but now all they do is extort high fees out of workers.

Because of this video, I now know that Trump supports [the] "Right To Work" and I can see that she obviously does not support the right to work.

PewDiePie's Message to the Media submitted by Rebel_Media_FTW to news

Instead of posting a clipped version, why not post the original? Yes, it is a bit longer, but taking away context can become a real problem, especially if someone has it out for you. While I'm not a huge fan, I do support what he had to say in the original clip. Also, he needs all the support and help he can get right now after having his image tarnished.

@White-Supremacist Nigger-fagget read the whole statement :

It does not matter if they are a US citizen or not, there are still procedures for dealing with those who may not be here legally and they still have some basic rights.

Are you advocating for your legal rights to be violated in some way or that we just cherry pick laws that we follow and others that we just throw out the window? If you don't like the laws, advocate for them to be changed or maybe actually get up off your lazy ass and call your representatives (if you even know who they are). You get bonus points if you write / propose legislation.
