Reddit's content has gone to shit. submitted by physicscat to MeanwhileOnReddit

Mut 2 points 39 points (+41|-2) ago

I dont want that to happen. I see reddit as containment. They can soak up all the shitposts and dank memes. That way this place gets to stay nice :)

Snowden: "I told the US government I'd return to the US if I was guaranteed a fair trial...[they] responded with a letter from the attorney general saying they promised they would not torture me." submitted by SuperConductiveRabbi to news

Mut 0 points 28 points (+28|-0) ago

Why did the audience find that funny? It made me sick to my guts.

The attorney general cant promise a fair trial, but feels like he has to promise that a US citizen wont be tortured?

It would be nice if this place was less hostile than the last place submitted by martymcdohl to MensRights

The problem with upvotes is that whilst the rule is "only down vote if the comment doesn't contribute" the way the site acts, is that downvoted comments receive less visibility .

So intuitively people downvote if they disagree or want to game the system. It's a horrible method of fostering discussion. Especially when fee fees are involved.

I see that being less of a problem here, due to new people being unable to voat. Perhaps we can foster a more open community, so that by the time new people can downvoat they understand how we operate.

Great video, Goes through some of the big issues and is easy to follow so I can show my mother.

What is a belief of yours that you'd rather keep to yourself IRL? submitted by fight_the_power to AskVoat

Probably anything to do with gender relations or issues.

People at best dont want to hear it. Often it can be a very emotional personal topic for someone and most people dont have the tools to handle that rationally.
