Voat describes itself as a community free of censorship. Does this mean mods can't ban people for disagreeing with them? submitted by Savipalooza to help

I would say it's ( sadly) heading the way of Reddit type censorship, thats just my personal experience. Yesterday I was singled out as a "antifeminist troll" after posting an awesome female musician in v/girlsrock of all places. Seriously, called a troll for posting Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin in a subverse specifically dedicated to women in music. Wtf? If this is the future of Voat i may just be checking out.

What the hell, dude?: "Country musician who played at Las Vegas festival reverses pro-gun stance after deadly massacre" submitted by Thisismyvoatusername to gunpolitics

He's scared, justifiably. It's a knee-jerk reaction to a traumatic experience. I'm willing to cut the guy some slack, he might come to his senses given time to reflect.

Yeah, i hear you and get what youre saying, and i agree. I guess my point is that it is 1.) just fucking offensive to be labeled as a troll out of the blue when trying to contribute positively and 2.) It's just one piece of evidence of what i fear is a concerning trend I've noticed lately. I enjoy amicable disagreements, but i seem to be seeing more close minded, emotional arguments recently. I will say, too, that i believe that Voat really needs to be something fundamentally different from reddit. If things stay the way they are now we may put off turning into reddit 2.0 but it will eventually happen. Oh, and thanks for your reply.
