Can we get a more permanent canary in the future? Updating this information like this is probably going to be bothersome :)

Apple Ads Based On Your Credit Balance Pushes Privacy Beyond The Limit submitted by iliketurtlesbro to technology

I don't really want to dig around for a Snowden quote, so I'll just reply in a less versed way; Not caring about your own privacy because others don't care about theirs means you did not care to begin with.

In my humble opinion it is better to stand for something that only a minority cares about, than not care at all. Privacy is important and sadly it is getting less of a right and more of a privilege.

It is indeed. Too bad though, there are some legitimate sliding scale concerns here. However, it is a recommended update, which type has existed for years and I am sure that this is not the first optional update where people went tinfoil on. If I were Microsoft I would also like to use my telemetry system to figure out how people use Windows 7 as many people think that is the best version to date.

I have downvoated this comment not because I disagree with it, but because of the unnecessary edit which changed it from a normal comment into a shitpost.

[Question] Will there be a mass migration from Windows to Linux ? submitted by fuckthisshitagain to technology

Mongolera 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

I agree, plus both OSes have their own purposes and audiences. While Linux is a lot more user friendly as it was a decade ago, I do not see non-techies move to Linux any time soon. Maybe those that have a Linux techie around to teach them, but those probably already migrated. Furthermore, enterprises are still Microsoft's main market and those will not migrate for all kinds of architectural, contractual and training reasons.

I got a terrible blue screen (bsod) after reseting Windows 10. This article is a lifesaver after my boot partition was so screwed, even installing Windows 8 from a flash drive itself didn't fix it. submitted by phly95 to technology

It is as if the open source community has planned for this moment forever. As if they sat in their hidden tree house and said: "The time is neigh my brothers! The moment Microsoft releases two OSes that are ill received we will swam them! We will be on every message board, every topic, every tumbler. We will retweet every snarky Anti-Windows comment, and reply in a condescending tone to all that still love, nay, like Microsoft and their broad offering of products and services.

Seriously though, where did all those FOSS extremists come from all of a sudden? Why do they all think in binary? Yes I like Windows for what it does and I like Linux for what it offers. I really don't get where all this 'burn Microsoft, Linux is the only way' religious bull crap came from. Maybe it is voat though, I haven't been on reddit that much lately but here on voat, wow.
