Not liberal enough for reddit, not libertarian enough for voat, not fascist enough for /pol/. Where should I go? submitted by NaziusMaximus to AskVoat

There are a lot of people here who I wouldn't classify as libertarian. And you're welcome here regardless.

Question about the free market/capitalism [serious] submitted by statik to Libertarian

In addition to this, there are plenty of regulations in place that prevent people from starting new companies to challenge Comcast. Comcast is terrible, and people would leave it if there was another option. The reason people don't leave is because no other option is available.

There are only two reasons why a monopoly can exist:

  1. The monopoly satisfies everyone more than any competitor could.
  2. The barrier to entry into the market is too high for a competitor to appear.

The main reason that the barrier to entry for ANY market would be too high for any competition to appear is government interference. Since we know that people are not satisfied with Comcast, the issue must be government interference. If we removed the government interference, competition would appear that would force Comcast to better itself.

Someone could run solely on the premise that they weren't a politician, and I'd vote for them.

I would argue that this technically falls under the second category. The company has raised the barrier to entry into the market. The difference is that here, the barrier was created by the company and not the government.
