Interesting theory. Indonesia also has many myths about their templates being built in 1 night etc. It almost makes Erich's hypothesissound reasonable.

Do Psychedelic Drug Laws Violate Human Rights? submitted by ElspethTirel to news

That's all well an said, but when your drug addiction begins to affect the lives of those around you, or forces you to commit crimes to support your addiction...that's where we need to question the legalities.

The Distribution of Users Computer Skills: Worse Than You Think submitted by Kannibal to technology

Isn't this a symptom of survival of the fittest? Should we allow people get dumber and dumber? Just because something isn't designed to perfection doesnt means you shouldn't know how to use it anyway. Something deep inside me finds it unsettling that most people do not yet basic computer skills or knowledge.

Picture this: far in the future, people are ALL users and no one actually understands the devices they use anymore. There is an elite subsect of programmers thst can dictate the users behavior and who hold tremedous power.

..now that i write it out ,it doesnt sound so bad. If we follow this trend of 'designing for idiots', we might actually get smart people with enough power to change the world for good. The barrier to use technology gets smaller and smaller, but the barrier to create software gets higher and higher.
