Hillary Clinton wants gun firms liable for shootings submitted by SullyMatrix to news

That's like holding car manufacturers liable for hit-and-runs.

Yeah, he's just a kid. I'm sure the stupid shit I did at that age would far surpass anything he's ever been up to.

The press ought to be the ones embarrassed by this, but they probably made more cash off this story than I'll ever see in my entire life.

I suppose it's just a matter of time before we see the next Marvel superhero - The Clockmaker. Bullied as a child, he was bitten by a radioactive Neil Degrasse Tyson and became the greatest scientist on earth.

Woman dies in Arizona after being hit by Uber self-driving car submitted by go1dfish to technology

Kromulent 11 points 64 points (+75|-11) ago

There was a human driver in the car as well.

It's entirely possible that this was the fault of both the software and the supervising human, or that it was entirely the fault of the pedestrian, or some combination of the two. If a person steps out in front of a rapidly moving car they are going to get hit, no matter how good the software or the driver.

The bottom line is that driverless cars do not have to be perfect. They only need to be better than human drivers.

A planet 1,200 light-years away is a good prospect for a habitable world submitted by Maxcactus to space

1200 light years away? It might as well be on Mars.

Son, Dont Marry a Feminist. submitted by Kromulent to whatever

Kromulent 3 points -3 points (+0|-3) ago

Feminism in and of itself is entirely unobjectionable, but in practice, being a feminist requires that one be 'woke', and being woke literally means seeing structural injustice everywhere, and being upset by it as well. They do it like it's their job and there's never a day off. The axe-grinding, the scorekeeping, and the humorlessness can't help but flower in that soil.

Q: How many feminists does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Just one. And that's not funny.

What is Evil? submitted by Native to theredpill

Kromulent 3 points -2 points (+1|-3) ago

Unless you believe in a religion that espouses it, there's no such thing. It's just an adjective, a word for things that we despise.

There's no need to personify 'despicablity' or imagine that there is some great objective standard for it. You know it when you see it, and that's pretty much that.
