Why do we need 100 votes to downvote on voat? submitted by mediocrescientist to AskVoat

Keir 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

I think it'll help stop it from being a disagree button because it'll make people learn the value and function of the downvote. I think we should tie it in with a report function too, because that would make people think 'oh, do I really want to downvote this?'.

When can we expect to flair up? submitted by Cold4bet to football

Keir 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

As a long time user of /r/soccer, I never found this to be a problem. The flairs mostly helped people to quickly see some context behind comments, and this was particularly useful during transfer news, match threads and such stuff where we might look for valuable contribution from fans of certain teams.

I don't agree that some people's opinions are more valuable than others, but a quick way of contextualising is always valuable. Maybe we can expect to see people preface comments with who they support sometimes... maybe.

I'm obstinate. submitted by Obstinate to introductions

What is wrong with those two posts?

'fuck off'

'Bye'

He or she is referring to their name, which might mean it's in jest. I doubt very much anyone completely embodies the adjective obstinate, so there's no need to say 'oh well if you won't change, we don't want you'. What is wrong with you guys?

Welcome.

:) Excellent

So, we flocked away to Voat. Can we stop talking about "you know what site" submitted by TobaccoBeard to AskVoat

Keir 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I have two problems with this:

  1. It assumes that just because some people are talking about something, someonhow there now exists a 'we' that is talking about it. Where is the line between just a few people and what you perceive as a majority? This is how stereotypes and perceptions of collective opinions work, and that's not good at all.

  2. Telling people what to talk about. This is why people moved.

Who is the best live act you have seen? submitted by clubby to music

I would have to give it to Arcade Fire, though some other stand outs would be: Muse, Pulp, The Cure, The National, Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden.
