Reddit is melting down. But there’s at least one reason to applaud interim Reddit CEO Ellen Pao and her staff. They realize just how much damage they’ve done on the site
Ok, I really can't read any further. And that's only the first 1 & 1/2 lines of the article.
Girlfriend Drugged So Man Can Keep Playing Video Games submitted by dukeskath to news

Instead of shitaku, here's their source..
Also, they conviently left out that the guy in question was on drugs at the time himself. Not to excuse his behavior, but IMHO, changes the story from "Shitlord drugs innocent girl to play vidya games" to "Woman drugged by druggie boyfriend".

Why would you not link to the actual news article?
Also, keep in mind, Canada has
zero minimal protection regarding free speech. So this really is not a surprise. It's the same place that a comedian & a restaurant owner were fined some $22k (CDN) because of some 'offensive' jokes at an open mic night.
Edited to strike out error. Text that /u/gpzal is referring to is :
- The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

Yeah, because the only reason to not be all in with anti-fraking is because you're a corporate shill maaaannnn.
Fun fact, both sides of any argument can have groups/plans/people for astroturfing.

But how much do we really need to address corporate welfare? It's not like if the cost of doing business goes up, the only thing that it would affect are the top wager earners of each company causing the ivory back-scratcher industry to collapse. That's not how these things work. You increase the taxes a company pays (from the largest conglomerate to the small mom&pop restaurant) and the cost to the end user goes up as much as it possibly can. When the cost to the end user cannot go up any higher, but the cost of business does, then you see jobs get cut and/or sent overseas. It's a rather simple reality that is ignored.
EDIT : I'm not defending the system, I'm pointing out that a clear "this is bad" or "this is good" is quite silly and does nothing to solve any of the underlying issues. You can address "corporate welfare" all you want, but ultimately, someone will make up the difference, and ultimately that is the end user.
