Yeah it's a fairly new addition, maybe in the last year or so? Anything past 6 months can't be commented or voted on, which is goddamn frustrating sometimes. I suspect it has to do with server space but I really don't know.

I just joined this morning, so I can't downvote anyway. I guess that would help prevent brigading maybe, but still it's not like a downvote is going to accomplish much after that long.

We already have bios and avatars, which is nice

Literally all but one of the states that have voter ID laws had a Trump majority submitted by TAThatBoomerang to politics

In my opinion, this is just another non-issue, or at least an extremely low priority one, that is just used as a tool to strengthen the divide between the two major parties. Yes, I agree that everyone should have an ID to vote and just for general purposes, but I am highly skeptical of the amount of voter fraud that a lot of people seem to think is happening. I doubt there were enough votes from non-eligible voters (whether illegal immigrants or visa holders or whoever else), or enough people who were unable to vote because they couldn't get an ID to actually sway the presidential election. It probably has a bigger impact on local and state elections though, especially along the border, but I think that issue should be left to state government.

I sort of equate it to abortion. It isn't nearly as common as everyone thinks it is, and for some reason everyone is real fucking concerned about it instead of worrying about issues that actually affect their everyday lives. It's just a tool used by both parties to sway people to one side or the other, knowing that people will overlook or simply never consider a politician's stance on other issues as long as they appeal to their strongest emotions.
