Holy shit... I just got scolded by Morgan Freeman, who *really* wants me to vote for Hillary Clinton. submitted by TheTrigger to whatever

Bah, who cares what an actor thinks.

Their only qualification is that they pretend to be other people for money.

They have no special insight. They have absolutely no qualifications in any field that makes them worthy of being followed about anything , but 'the show'.

More, they are not generally any smarter than most people, even the ones with educations from good schools backgrounds are typically in liberal arts, and mostly in film and acting.

As far as stumping for elections, remember the "the almost 200" celebrities that stumped for Obama. It is no different now, just far enough back so people don't accurately recall, something actors (and politicians) love about the masses.

I fly all over the world for work. Here are my tips:

  1. Noise reduction headphones, get them, make sure you have enough batteries for them. This is the single best thing to improve the experience.

  2. Get a Coccyx memory foam seat cushion.

  3. Bring healthy snacks in small sealed bags (like 100 cal almonds, Dried fruit, that sort of ting). The sealed small bags get through any security.

  4. Get a neck pillow and put them on backwards. Let your chin fall forward into the pillow, at least for me this significantly decreases neck aches.

  5. If you can afford it (heck even if you can't try to save a bit more and do it anyway), upgrade at the gate, better rates and sometimes you even get bumped higher. The long flight economy + is like the 80's first class, pretty nice and have leg rests. Oh and the meal comes on actual plates.

  6. Order a special meal, they tend to be better than general fair.

  7. Hydrate, Hydrate Hydrate.

  8. Bring a roll of TP with you, generally much better quality and you know you have it.

  9. One small pad, 7" with kindle and lot's of storage. Load it up with books, TV, movies and music think how you can be entertained without being online. One pad that can act as a laptop replacement for meetings and such if one is working. Leave the laptop at home unless there is no other way. I check mine in if I need it, never had an issue, but it can get stolen. I use TSA locks, but that doesn't protect much.

  10. Take it slow, easy and pace yourself, don't worry so much about queues, leave yourself plenty of time.

  11. Outside the US, most places take the local airlines over a US carrier, cost is generally less and service is generally better.

For Security:

  1. Wear elastic waist pants so no belt to mess with.

  2. Wear slip on shoes

  3. Cary only a backpack (I have the backpack with rollers), it is much easier to put away and deal with when you have been traveling 20 hours or more.

  4. Carry nothing in your pockets but your Travel docs, passport, cash and CC.

  5. Have everything ready to go so you are not that guy holding up the line.

  6. Smile and be polite to officials, they are doing a tough job and you are more likely to get their help or even extras if you are kind. I had one security lady stop a woman who was rude to me after cutting in the queue, held her to do a search. She looked directly at me and winked. Heh.

I had fun in court last week. submitted by crazy_eyes to whatever

I have had twice police come to my door. Once some short in phone work on the poll made 911 think they got a call, the other they had the wrong house and I had to correct them from the warrant (one of the Place/ St/ Ave mix-ups).

Both times they asked to come in, both times I said "I am so sorry officer, while I respect your position and job, I am going to exercise my 4th amendment rights and ask you to show me a warrent".

The 911 said, no everything seems calm here. And left.

The second had a warrant, I read it carefully and showed them they had the wrong house. The cops joked around about it a bit and left.

Yeah sure, not cool, and hypocritical, but all around. And really do we know what went on before the camera was turned on?

Walk into a roughneck bar in TX wearing a pro-Hillary shirt, see if you are lucky enough to just have the bouncers toss you out.

There is this thing people do on the internet (liberal and non), they go around poking wasps nests with sticks, then turn their camera on and complain when the wasps get wound-up.

Look, don't be a daft git, my comment is NOT about liberal or conservative, or any of these things you said. It is not a defense of the bars staff. Nor is it an agreement with this guy.

I am not going to suspend rationality by wanting to know the whole story and not just one side before I make a decision.

Being a moderate I see this bad behavior on both sides of the political spectrum, and why this whole thing is such bullshit and hypocrisy.

I never made it about the politics, rather the bad behavior of people everywhere and the reality of trolls in our society, not just on the internet.

But you have to change that into your own identity based politics and politicize it and then make a statement that has nothing to do with the points I brought up, mainly which, this is hypocrisy and we don't know this guy is not a troll.

Are you are saying that a guy could walk into a roughneck bar in TX wearing a Pro-Hillary T-Shit, and no have at the minimum a verbal confrontation?

Are you saying you believe, without any evidence, that the lead up to this video was as the person described?

Are you saying there are not trolls, of all political stripes, that would do this for the lulz and internet video?

Are you saying you believe freedom of speech applies in a private location? Are you saying you think that freedom of speech protects you from the outcomes of that speech by the individuals around you, rather than being about protection from the government for what you have to say?

Humm, ok...

This is like when one posts a scientific paper and the next guy always has to have his own political agenda so makes it about that, instead of the actual content.

But of course I am breaking the circle-jerk so the more reactionary here will read things into what is being said, rather than address the actual content and try to censor the message.
