Not being able to upvote actual news over internet drama is frustrating.

The Decline of U.S. Power? submitted by Frogolocalypse to news

This is ridiculous. The fact that we didn't invade Iran first rather than attempt to negotiate means we're weak?

The fact that opinion polls in "Obama's ancestral home" are only 59% means the US is slipping?

You want to see powerful: How about a country that can drag it's allies into illegal wars? How about a country that can get half the world to boycott someone else's illegal war? How about a country that is involved diplomatically, economically, and militarily in the vast majority of developed and developing countries. Oh, lets not forget a country that can recover from an economic disaster - lets see if EU, Russia, and China can pull through their economic woes coming up.

Simply having a gridlocked congress and a president who comes off as wish washy does not wane the power of US institutions like the military, state department, and the various spy agencies.

Disclaimer - I personally believe the US has a lot of problems it needs to solve and that when it comes to wielding world power it's brutish and rather uncouth about it. However I don't see any near term (next 10 years) competitor to US power.

Good thing it clearly defines what a militia is, how one is formed and organized, who it answers to, and all those sorts of things then..

I bet if it actually said all those things black people would only count as 3/5ths of a casualty.

Why can't I find any articles from "mainstream" media telling us why Obama wants to topple the legitimate government of Syria? submitted by TheDude2 to whatever

DingleMyCringle 4 points -3 points (+1|-4) ago

Because it's commonly accepted the the Syrian government is using chemical weapons and in areas where there are civilian casualties.

Muslim father strangled daughter, 19, to death in 'honour killing' after she was caught stealing condoms for sex in Germany submitted by pandabill to news

The Daily Mail isn't a reputable news source for a reason.

I think that same reason is why they do tend to carry stories like this - they sell outrage.
