Train Simulator 2017 on Steam. Its copies of full DLC (Day 1 DLC) cost over 4000$ in total. submitted by profanion to gaming

Every year train simulator updates their engine and updates the label. If you bought a previous version you get the updated engine free and they have the new content available as dlc. All dlc they have previously released is compatible still.

The pricing is outrageous but they are targeting the model train enthusiasts. Nobody expects someone to buy every piece of dlc. You only buy the trains and trails you're interested in. If you have zero interest in steam trains then you don't buy any of that dlc. Compared to buying model train stuff the price isn't so bad.

I bought the 2015 edition. Once they released the 2016 edition mine showed that one. Now it shows that it is the 2017 edition. It's just the way they update their engine. I only have a few trains and trails I'm interested in.

Edit: it is still best to wait for steam sale to buy the game and any dlc interested in. They discount the dlc pretty decently.
