[Serious] Why do some people think it is okay to scream at, curse at, refuse simple legal orders, given by a police officer? submitted by explorevoat to AskVoat

Chris_E 2 points 19 points (+21|-2) ago

In America the supreme court has ruled that you do have a legal right to curse at an officer.

As for the other things you say you can't do/are legal requests I'm fairly sure you're wrong quite a bit and would love to see some citations on what is or isn't legal to prove me wrong.

Civil rights are important, and it's important to stand up to cops who overstep their bounds if you have what it takes to stand up to them, because for every person who's willing to stand up there's hundreds who would just choose to keep their heads down and live with their rights being violated.

Former Destructoid journalist explains why GamerGate Is Important & why Games Media is Bullshit submitted by 0dds_0f_Even to gaming

Chris_E 7 points -6 points (+1|-7) ago

From what I saw it wasn't about ethics at the start, it was about slut shaming in the name of ethics. The initial focus was on a journalist that had set with an indie dev, even though the journalist never wrote anything about the dev after the affair. It didn't focus on the real ethics problems in gaming such as content creators refusing to provide games to journalists who gave poor scores, threatening to pull ads if they don't get a high enough rating, or (something I personally encountered) devs being told "If you buy a full page ad we'll guarantee a full page review with photos and a high rating."

You're still comparing a private company to a government. It's apples and oranges.

You're seriously comparing the running of a privately owned website to genocide? Seriously?
