You don't need a car, insurance or a cell phone.

Good luck starting a career without any of that in this day and age. I've known people who have been denied jobs at fast food for not having car. And if you're job hunting you better have a cell phone, because if you miss a call from a potential employer while you're out job hunting, you're off the list.

The connotation is completely different though. "Let's play" the statement has been around for centuries. "Let's play" the term/genre is a fairly new phenomenon, and to equate those two things would be disingenuous at best and ignorant at worst.
