Voat is currently Invite-Only!!! submitted by KL1 to technology

BlurryScreen 0 points 17 points (+17|-0) ago

Looks like it ( catching up with scaling definely helps admins). It also deals with spammers and trolls making endless accounts to post random stuff (hate posts, etc). Hoping its temporary the invite model i dont think will help adoption since there many on the fence with voat already because of issues with uptime

Regarding questionable content submitted by Atko to announcements

BlurryScreen 1 points 16 points (+17|-1) ago

While i see where your coming from Atko, be sure to be very clear of the reasoning of banned of subverses as people left reddit because of subjective decisions by management. Follow the legal laws of your local government of the server and I'd advise some legal consul as well to make sure your not going to be persued by authorities.

On the side of saying user records will be shared to authorities upon request, would it be asking too much to consider a bit more transparency in that regard (perhaps a form of page that informs general statistics of requests that have been made), and perhaps a form of canary.

Thank you so much for all the work you done Atko and PuttitOut :) behind you in this decision.

Since PayPal is apparently evil, what's another payment platform with a similar feature set? submitted by DrDoctor13 to AskVoat

Bitcoin itself is pretty safe and allows for many uses, the problem is mainly where you have to deal with companies that had built shop in trading bitcoin that has been where most if not all the negative news about bitcoin is coming from.

There is a reason bitcoin is used by the deepweb for ahem a "various diversity" of "services and products" and large organizations that aren't favored by governments and corporations like wikileaks, piratebay. Many services accept bitcoin which gives some validity to using bitcoin.

CIA Promises that by 2025 80% of the USA Population to be Dead or Have Fled USA - Why the Silence? submitted by obama2016nazi to news

With the wide range use of antibiotics in many food and how much we use it for precaution its not really that unexpected that at some point the US might be wrecked with an epidemic of incurable infectious diseases due to the bacteria being resistant to all known antibiotics. Still though people are working on cures and well....that significant of a drop in population besides death or left the US is odd.

US lifestyle at this point is pretty bad for one's health making it seem that in the long run age expectancy can drop (with rampant indulging of salt and sugar which would raise obesity rates and high blood pressure and doctors tossing medicine at people instead of encouraging healthy habits to deal with these problems)

More corporations introducing unhealthy environments to citizens is another point to think about as more and more chemicals are introduced probably causing higher chances of cancer.

Economic changes such as TPP and the growing automation and globalization is shrinking a workforce and as well lowering wages causing stress on the lower income people in the US.

ugh...depressing myself...the data is weird in the end though...
