How come we pretend transgenders aren't sick in the head? submitted by Acnologia to askgoat

AzureNova 5 points 46 points (+51|-5) ago

Sick in the head is a very nontechnical way to put it. Science has produced replicated, peer-reviewed studies showing that people who would be called transgendered don't get much help by the way of the standard psychologist help (while most mental disorders do fairly well with that kind of help), yet they do fairly well when treated to have their outer selves match they perception.

But more importantly, why should I give enough of a damn to tell them otherwise? You do your thing and I'll do mine.

C'mon, you're a mod. Have some class.

Why is it if you do not hate fat people or black people you are now considered a SJW on voat? submitted by Adictgamer to AskVoat

AzureNova 0 points 37 points (+37|-0) ago

Voat has the users it has largely due to reaction against what is seen as SJW, and that means 1) the user base is predispositioned against the SJW and 2) the same users are very wary of similar action taking root on their new beloved site. It becomes an us vs them mentality, where if you aren't with us, you're against us, because the SJW is perceived as a potent, insidious threat. And as more users flock to voat because of this sort of trend, it means more users come to voat with that tendency. The original gatekeepers become outnumbered, and the foreigners become the majority, if I were to use the language of this crowd.

Opening Remarks submitted by tyrannis to downvoat

AzureNova 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

It's ambitious to try to create a new subculture, but I encourage ambition. That's why I want to see how voat progresses - free speech is a lofty goal. For this subverse, though, wouldn't the admins see this sub as a breeding ground rather than a containment zone, given the selling point - opening up the downvoat option site-wide?

Keep Voat Invite Only With Equation Mixing Account Age, SCP, and CCP Determining Number of Invites You Give per Week? submitted by explorevoat to ideasforvoat

AzureNova 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

Tell me. Should we ban users that don't pass the bar for a certain quality of participation?

Voat should sell shares to the people of Voat to raise funds. Make Voat user owned to prevent it from ending up like that other site. submitted by Redditsdead to ideasforvoat

AzureNova 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

Not only that - if voat legally becomes a corporation, then they are required by law to maximize profits for their shareholders. I.E. they'd be screwed if they didn't try to screw us (the users) after we (the shareholders) bought our stock.
