It's only controversial because it annoys Christians. Christians are known to throw a hissy fit and not kill you when they are offended. If they were more like another religion which killed people who annoyed it, my guess the media would tell the organizers of the statue that they should respect other people's religion.

Swedens anti-immigration nationalists lead polls for first time submitted by dildonkers to news

I think this is due to the melting pot becoming a stew pot. Immigration worked very well in America up until the 1950's because it was understood that when you came here you integrated with American society. Now giving up your culture for the dominant one is seen as cultural treason. If you want to practice your own religion, speak your own language, and cook your own food; that is OK. What is not OK is when you demand that we cater to your wishes, and anything that offends you must be eliminated.

Criminal inquiry requested over Clinton's email... submitted by GetYourPopcorn to news

Asinus 1 points 50 points (+51|-1) ago

She sent all of her email when she was Sec State through the private email server. It is not illegal to use private email occasionally, but she used it exclusively. There has not been one email sent from hclinton@state.gov. The purpose of this appears to be to prevent embarrassing emails from making it into the public record. That is illegal for anyone whose last name doesn't end in Clinton.

It was also a massive security breach. The email server itself was setup using a default configuration, you could access it directly from the web without any security in place. In addition, she used an anti-spam provider that unencrypted her email scanned the plain text document and forwarded it to her server. Massive security hole there.

We also know she didn't send over all of the emails. We can follow email chains and headers and see that there are gaps. Amazingly these gaps only appear in email chains that could possibly look bad for her i.g. Benghazi.

How exactly are they silencing you? Can you not donate your time and money to a PAC or political that shares your views?

Can someone explain something to me about Ben Carson not believing in evolution? What danger is actually posed by the president holding these beliefs? submitted by haroldtheblankth to politics

Asinus 6 points -3 points (+3|-6) ago

I would say none. For you to be a President, does not require you to understand the fundamentals of evolution. The President does not have the omnipotent authority most people give them. If you truly want to fight against creationism in today's schools, get involved with the school board and textbook selection process.

Whenever I am deciding on a candidate I look at their history (Past performance is an indicator for what you can expect in the future), previous executive experience, and the scope of government he/she believes in. Once you have a good idea of those three items, the rest of it is mostly non-nonsensical.

Today's society loves the "Gotcha!" question. I am sure if we were to dig a little deeper we would find out that Carson's belief in evolution is not black & white. He most likely has things he believes and others that he does not. In the grand scheme of things these are only used to divide people into camps.
