has it really been 10 years since the greatest moment in competitive gaming? submitted by 9-11 to gaming

It was an individual high-parry each time the kick came. Just as Farseli mentioned, blocking would have killed Daigo. As for how it was accomplished, you basically have to time your forward-taps so that you're doing each time you're attacked. If he had held the back direction, he would have blocked and been defeated. In addition, he had to keep within range to pull this off which meant moving forward into the attack, which you can see halfway through Justins' super. More than just reaction speed, you have to be so familiar with the game that you can pull something of this caliber off reliably. Parries, guard breaks, etc are upper level stuff if you can do it regularly.

As a follow up, given the fact that Daigo would have died instantly had even one of these kicks landed, he was under intense pressure to win since both players had won a round. It isn't just the fact that he parried, he came back from a sliver of health and managed to parry every single kick, knowing that if he missed once it would be game over for him. He did this while there was massive cheering in the background. Everyone was watching. I remember seeing this in college back in 04. Even now, I get shivers because I know that I'll never see something so intense in gaming ever again. I may witness massive space battles, I may watch an intense comeback in a MOBA, I may even see a fighter game battle which rivals this, but nothing will be as intense as this fight, which won Daigo this fight.

Protestors Dig Up Confederate Soldiers Grave, Enraging Some ... submitted by Lucious_The_Limp to news

“If he’s gone, some of this racism and race-hate might be gone,”

Really now? Is his zombie getting up at night and yelling "Coon!" at black families? I mean, really, will digging up a man long dead really help matters? The city council already decided to try and get him moved elsewhere and that wasn't fast enough for you, huh?

Don't get me wrong, folks. I hate racism. It's an evil and vile thing. I believe people of all races should be treated equally. With that being said, vandalizing a grave is a sick crime, especially when the town was already getting its way by having him moved.

In Iraq, I raided insurgents. In Virginia, the police raided me. submitted by lodro to news

I always thought it was weird when people defend the police by saying "Oh they have a difficult job and must protect themselves." Okay, but don't they choose to go into that job? What are they achieving by neutralizing every situation with violence? I mean, the end up creating situations that end up requiring a violent response because of their nature to use violence in the first place. They need violence because they're creating situations which require it. In short, they are the instigators, just as the US was early in the war with their approach to the Middle-East. This article is the first time I've ever seen it put so eloquently.

EDIT:

Turns out BioHazard (https://voat.co/user/Biohazard), who posted some downvoated comments in this thread, is a verified LEO. This isn't a scandal, really, but this isn't exactly a nice thing to do : https://voat.co/v/ProtectAndServe/comments/330721

Granted, we won't ever know what those comments said and since he/she is a mod in /v/protectandserve it his his/her right to delete whatever they see fit. However, it does make you look like an asshole that is continuing to perpetrate the common practice of gagging vocal opponents of your chosen profession.

[Out of the Loop] What's the deal with Star Citizen? Why is everyone saying that it is dead / failed / over? submitted by EllipsisMouseCard to gaming

I'm actually about to post a gigantic wall of text detailing as many aspects of the game as possible. The aspect of "pay-to-win" will be addressed in a moment when Voat lets me post. Suffice it to say, there won't be any pay-to-win and pay-to-progress will be at a minimum. Character slots and in-game currency will be purchasable but the in-game currency purchases will have a reasonable monthly cap.

EDIT: Here is a wall of text that I've been attempting to post : https://voat.co/v/gaming/comments/350168/1400390

Japan To Feminist UN Committee: 'You Do Know That Fictional Characters Aren't Real, Right?' submitted by Alybad to news

Where would you recommend visiting? I'm planning for Japan to be this years annual vacation spot and I'd like to see a little bit of everything. That being said, I'd like to see the countryside and perhaps a few different temples. I was told I would enjoy Hokkaido.

To be perfectly honest, this response gives me a great place to start as far as planning. I didn't know there was a snow festival in Hokkaido and I would be very interested in seeing that. I looked up some photos and that is exactly the sort of thing I want to see. I will probably go later in 2016 as Spring and Summer will be busy for me. With that being said, what would be your recommendation as far as the time of year to visit Japan? If I have something to shoot for, I can more accurately prepare for a larger trip.

As far as travel goes, is it easy to navigate between places like Hokkaido and Tokyo? Or should I prepare for staying in one specific region until I must leave?

Also, thank you so much for your information. There is only so much you can get from travel guides and Google. Plus, I don't trust travel agents too much.
