In the US they make you take an IQ test before they give you a badge and gun. If you pass the test, you don't get the job.

Active Shooter - Oregons Umpqua Community College -10 Dead, 20+ Wounded submitted by 9-11 to news

CNN is reporting school staff actively stopped a group of veterans attempting to stop the shooter. Not onlyt is the school a gun free zone, it's policy apparently insists that nobody is allowed to help.

NYT Quietly Pulls Article Blaming Encryption in Paris Attacks submitted by Kookus to technology

Simple answer: "No, mom, encryption is what your bank uses to keep your password secure so hackers don't steal your money. It's all over the internet and on every computer and probably your phone. Quit believing everything you hear on the scare-you news."

CISA has been voted in. See who voted yeas or nay. Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015. submitted by Ex-Redditor to technology

There are plenty of presidential candidates that are willing to say things but not make any legislative action to back up their words, so this hardly makes him stand out as a legitimately different candidate. This kind of backstabbing is expected from Hillary and Bush, Rand's words made it seem he would be different.

This is more than disappointing, though I suppose you're right - it's better to learn this before the election.

How does 3D printing work? submitted by ideasware to technology

Don't be foolish; homemade firearms are not only legal, they have been around far longer than manufactured firearms. It's absolutely trivial to make a gun, and you can do it with $5 worth of plumbing store supplies which is a lot easier than operating a printer. Knee-jerk fear of technology is stupid; rather than fear printers because you've recently realized this, stop fearing firearms since you have now learned they're ridiculously simple machines.

Seriously. Feinstein has been working hard to lobby her fellow Congressmen to eliminate the first amendment for the last few years. That woman hates every word of the constitution, she'd probably repeal the 19th Amendment if she could.
