What bugs me about them is yeah, I meet their standards, but I (and anyone with options) wants nothing to do with these eat-beasts.

They did this during the WTO riots, OWS protests, and more. This is Standard Operating Procedure. And it is a sure sign of tyranny and frankly, it's evil and should not be tolerated.

This is sad.

People hate bikes because they're a part of urban life, and people in here hate the cities and what they represent. They don't like people 'getting by for free.' A bike isn't free, of course, you work your butt off to get up hills and to keep it in good working order.

Unpopular opinion time: All of these are the fault of the person opening the door. This is 100% their fault. Check your mirrors. Lane splitting is legal, and it's good policy.

Don't like the law? Don't whine about them running stop signs, then.

6 edgy 4 me

I noticed the Google Doodle this morning and decided to see if they were accurately representing the genders and races of the mission members, or just pushing a narrative submitted by SuperConductiveRabbi to pics

They can pay their laborers less.

H1-B. Minorities. Women. Yes, I know the gender pay gap is a myth largely, but it is more nuanced than that.

Women ARE paid less, and not just by profession (though that is the majority of it, when we're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars, a few percentage points difference is a big deal). It is fewer overtime hours, a likeliness to negotiate better wages, accepting lower wages, etc., remember that the hiring/HR team is comprised of people who don't actually do the science. The pay gap isn't mythical- it exists, but it has reasons for existing, and good ones at that, which are outside of congressional ability to control. Men will earn more $ because we're willing to put in those overtime hours to make something work, to "solve it." For HR and Payroll, though, it's all about their bottom line. The quality of coding or figuring out the maths isn't as important to them as controlling payroll. Saving anywhere from 1-3% on payroll is enough for a huge personal promotion, even if it severely damages the project in the process.
