[Discussion] Introduce Yourself! (07.10.2015) submitted by voldenoir to anime

1) What are your top 3 anime?

This was in the intro post but what the hey let's do it again.

  1. Kara no Kyoukai (movie 5, more specifically.)
  2. Psycho-Pass (there’s no season 2, what’re you talking about?)
  3. Fate/Zero

2) What are your favorite genres?

I love thriller, psychological, generally dark and pre-Gargantia Urobuchi things.

3) How long have you been into anime?

About 6 years or so now. In that time I've experienced Vocaloid, Homestuck, Tumblr fanning, Reddit, and finally to where I (thankfully) am now.

4) What contributions have you made in the community in the past?

I do stuff IRL at my anime club. I mod here and I'm trying to revive /v/manga, before this I mostly lurked because I thought reddit would drown me out anyways. I used to create visual novels but I haven't had time or a team to work with and keep on with those. I use my fandoms as an excuse for small programming projects. I used to make shitty photoshops on tumblr, and I'm sorry for that. I also mod /v/ramenlife which is very loosely anime related???

5) What other anime-related media do you enjoy? (Manga, light novels, visual novels, doujinshi, figures, etc.)

I started out on manga and I prefer it for longer stories because of time constraints. I want to read light novels but that won't happen until I finally finish Game of Thrones. I love visual novels and have finished all of Higurashi and Umineko plus Katawa Shoujo and some other English VNs. I don't read dirty doujins what

6) Please link your anime list if you have one!

All hail hummingbird.

Hello fellow Kara no Kyoukai-er, how goes life? I've been looking into reading a Type-Moon visual novel, what would you recommend? I've heard Tsukihime is close to KnK?

[Discussion] Long Running Anime submitted by voldenoir to anime

What do you define as a long running anime? I stop watching anime around the 2 full seasons mark, but long anime I consider 100 and then truly LONG I consider above 200 episodes.

Have you ever watched a long running anime? first shounen was Naruto. We don't talk about those days anymore. I only read the manga, but my SO is watching it without filler just for closure. I read a lot of Bleach, and I finished reading Katekyo Hitman Reborn and loved it. In retrospect, I see it has lots of flaws, but I miss the excitement of waiting for the new chapter to come out with my best internet friend.

In general, do you prefer the anime or manga versions of long running anime?

I read at a very fast pace, so reading the manga is much more time efficient. Also, budgets tend to be too stretched and low in the anime for me to feel like the motion and action on screen is much more worth it.

Do you prefer long running anime to shorter ones?

I prefer shorter for sure. I feel the pacing is much better a majority of the time and it works better with my low-free time lifestyle.

This season I'm watching only Fate Stay/Night on a weekly basis. Beyond that I need to finish my last hour of Tekkonkinkreet, rewatching Fate/Zero (currently at episode 16), and then considering Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom at some point.

F/Z: Slowing down is an option, I've been watching it with my boyfriend and we're really slow so maybe discussing it with other people would be entertaining as well. I like all of what I've seen of pre-Gargantia Urobuchi (Saya no Uta, F/Z, Madoka, Psycho Pass), but recent Urobuchi I'm kind of just evaluating on a case by case basis now. Early Urobuchi is also why I'm considering Phantom.

I've been meaning to read the Fate/Stay Night VN and I have the Fate/Extra game on my PSVita, plus I'm in love with Kara no Kyoukai so I'd say that I'm a Type-Moon fan to an extent (although I haven't seen too much of Nasu's work overall to say that "I'm a huge fan").

F/SN: Whoops, didn't see that this is for non-airing. Yeah, it's the new one.

I feel that if Jon comes back then there will be some sort of a cost to offset that opportunity. It won't go unpunished... (reminder that guy Beric in the Brotherhood Without Banners came back a few times with help from the Lord of Light, but lost parts of his memory each resurrection as a cost.)
