Let's make this atheism better! submitted by EpicLoaf to atheism

vjack 0 points 29 points (+29|-0) ago

What was annoying about it, and what do you suggest we change here? Suggesting that we don't upvoat "religion hating content" is probably not going to be agreed on by the majority because we recognize that criticizing religion is necessary. And I know I can only speak for myself here, but I have little interest in quotes, memes, or images. Others will certainly disagree. So the problem is that there will likely be little (if any) agreement about the sort of content that would "make this atheism better."

"Microagressions". What will you say when someone accuses you? submitted by arrggg to politics

vjack 0 points 23 points (+23|-0) ago

Microaggression theory goes back to the early 1970s, so it isn't all that new. If you are hearing more about it now than you used to, I'd guess this might be because kids who have learned about it in college are now very active on social media and feel entitled to scold others. Many of those I see using it today are relatively privileged and White. They seem to have recognized that accusing others of racism, sexism, and various other "sins" is a very effective way to justify treating others poorly without feeling guilty about doing so.

When I am accused, I don't necessarily feel like I need to say anything. Attempting to defend oneself against a social justice warrior is usually futile.

What do you dislike about Voat? submitted by reporrted to AskVoat

vjack 0 points 16 points (+16|-0) ago

Most of the subverses I've subscribed to seem to be dead or nearly dead. Very little activity in comparison to what I was used to at the other place. If it catches on, that will change.

American Psychological Association To Classify Belief in God As a Mental Illness submitted by cynoclast to atheism

vjack 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

The American Psychological Association does not decide what gets classified as a mental illness; the American Psychiatric Association does that with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Also see

Outrage Clickbait Once Fueled the Internet. Now the Internet Is Moving On. submitted by vjack to manspreading

At least the author briefly referred to manspreading in the intro. So it wasn't all bad.

Will you partecipate at the Amazon Prime Sale day or no? Why? submitted by thegreatgabbi to AskVoat

vjack 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I won't be participating because I am not a Prime member. I used the trial previously, and there is no way I can imagine paying for it.
