Even though I try to avoid having to "pick a side in politics" I'm more liberal than conservative. That being said, I left reddit because I hated how it was becoming the next tumblr where its wrong to be mean and you can't say your opinion if it offends someone. I think in time more liberal people will migrate from reddit to voat but the majority of voat right now are more conservative people who left reddit along time ago.

Am I the only one who thinks that gun control would be just about as noneffective as the war on drugs has been? submitted by Renoco to AskVoat

I think people need to realize two things. One, guns are a part of life to people in rural areas where they hunt to eat. Two, while just saying gun control is very broad, its not the outright banning of guns like the war on drugs did with drugs. From what I understand, few politicians actually want to remove the second amendment and ban guns. I think the overwhelming amount of people calling for more control simply want it to be more difficult for guns to be obtained by felons, kids and possible criminals. To be completely honest though, I've heard at least a dozen different opinions on guns in the country so at this point who the fuck knows anymore.
