City in Iran hits a heat index of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius). Near world record. submitted by BloodPool to news

It's like the opposite of "wind chill" -- it's based on the actual temperature and the relative humidity which inhibits perspiration, making it feel hotter than it actually is..

This is why I HATE the majority of Indie devs - "We are developers, not gamers" submitted by DoNotTrustMe to gaming

I must be following the wrong sorts of indie gaming sites, because I've never heard of this game and it looks awesome.

The funny thing is that Vlambeer makes some of the shallowest, most traditionally "gamey" games in the indie space today, yet somehow they're the darling of every gaming news shop I've ever come across.

I do think it's unfortunate that "indie" has come to have a stereotype of pretentiousness instead of earnest passion. You don't have to distance yourself from your audience to avoid being a corporate sellout.

Weird audio happening in Hunter's Dream, not sure what caused it. submitted by Serfy to Bloodborne

Sometimes the sound from another player's Roar gesture finds its way into your world, usually after doing co-op. You can also trigger it yourself by roaring and then running through a zone boundary, like the entrance to a boss fight or (apparently) the door of the Hunters' Workshop.

In folklore, a rat king is a nest of rats that have become intertwined by their tails or...by other means. This is my take on it in sort of a fantastical way -- a caste system where the oldest and largest rats comprise the center of the cluster, and their low-ranking subjects, the most recently entangled, carry or drag their rulers around.

What's the D-pad doing next to the analog stick (nub?) That seems both non-ergonomic and redundant.
