Why not both? [from 2010]

But yes, business is always going to scam whenever it is profitable.

I was just talking about Google and how BlackBerry used to be with someone recently. The other person insisted, kept insisting that Google does evil things for money and marketing, AND NO OTHER REASON! sigh

Another person present at the time was with me in an electronics store and there was an Alexa display. He wouldn't listen to me about Alexa but his wife said I was right.

Some people think it was for big corporations to keep PR on the up and up. BigCorps want their office drones to avoid lawsuits and protests...

Perhaps, but we here know the world runs on power. :/

I think you're thinking of the Khamir Rogue in Cambodia, actually many revolutions purged intellectuals...

An "intellectual" is of the class of person who creates and spreads rhetoric that can lead to a movement. It wasn't entirely without reason. Even Shakespeare said to kill all the lawyers!

EDIT: Speaking of which, what do you think of this guy? He used to write great stuff but I suspect the Chinese identified and coopted him at some point... Still interesting sometimes.

The old #NRx crowd used to be interested in why people become Leftists, among other topics, and came up with interesting answers. But they never realized how important explicitly cordinated actions were (but did have theories of implicit coordination). :/
